Irrigation in Yelm, WA
Yelm's water comes from city wells, and its prairie soil drains fast. A sprinkler system here has to water efficiently and meet the city's backflow rule.
What's different about Yelm irrigation
- City well water. All of the City of Yelm's water comes from groundwater wells the city owns and runs.
- Backflow is required. On City water, backflow prevention devices are required on all irrigation systems.
- The system is yours. The city says landscape irrigation systems are the owner's responsibility, so repairs and upkeep fall to you.
- Sandy prairie soil. Nisqually and Spanaway outwash soils drain fast, so watering has to be efficient, not long.
