Landscaping in Centralia & Chehalis, WA

Centralia and Chehalis sit about four miles apart on I-5, on the same river valley, with the same floods to plan around. So we serve them as one area. We bring drainage know-how and a full landscape crew down from Olympia.

Neighborhoods we serve

Centralia: Edison · Fords Prairie · Logan · Salzer Creek · Seminary Hill · Washington Addition · Waunch Prairie · Widgeon Hill · Cooks Hill
Chehalis: Pennsylvania Avenue–West Side · Hillside / Park Hill · Downtown Chehalis

What yards here deal with

  • The floodplain. In December 2007 the Chehalis River crested at 74.78 feet at Mellen Street and about 350 Centralia homes were damaged or destroyed. The Skookumchuck flooded too. Low lots here have to plan for water.
  • Permits for fill. Centralia requires a floodplain permit for work in the floodplain, and fill or grading permits based on how many cubic yards move. Grading here is not a weekend job.
  • Hills above the valley. Seminary Hill, Cooks Hill and Chehalis's Hillside district sit up out of the flats, with sloped yards and views over the valley.
  • Older homes. Chehalis has historic districts with older homes and mature yards that need a lighter touch.

Centralia & Chehalis FAQ

Do you serve Lewis County?

Yes. We serve all of Lewis County, Centralia and Chehalis included.

I'm in the floodplain. Can I regrade my yard?

Possibly, but Centralia requires a floodplain permit and fill/grading permits for this kind of work. We'll look at your lot and talk through what applies before anything moves.

Why one page for two cities?

They share a valley, a river and a highway. The yard problems are the same, so we treat them as one service area.

Do you offer year-round maintenance down here?

Yes. Our 12-month maintenance contracts are available in Lewis County too.

What about icy hill driveways?

On Seminary Hill or Cooks Hill, a frosty morning makes a steep drive risky. We offer de-icing and light snow plowing.
